Experience a rare piece of American history at The Charleston Museum. On view for a limited time, this original copy of the Declaration of Independence was printed in Charleston in 1776 by Peter Timothy. Moreover, it brought the news of independence to South Carolina.
Presented on loan from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History in partnership with the Huguenot Society of South Carolina, this special exhibition offers a meaningful look at Charleston’s role in the American Revolution. In addition, it highlights the events that shaped the nation’s founding.
