Wednesday March 25, 2026

Circular Congregational Church 150 Meeting Street Charleston, SC 29401

Celebrate Charleston’s musical legacy during The Sound of Charleston: America 250 Edition, a live concert series honoring the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution through music shaped by history, culture, and’s evolving American story. Performed by professional musicians at Circular Congregational Church, each 75-minute concert blends education and performance, guiding guests through the sounds that helped define Charleston and the nation.

The program features classical selections once performed by the St. Cecilia Society alongside gospel music, Revolutionary-era campfire songs, early jazz influences, and the timeless compositions of George Gershwin, whose work connects deeply to Charleston’s coastal heritage. From Gospel to Gershwin, the concert weaves together centuries of musical tradition into a single immersive experience.

Taking place on select Wednesdays from March 4 through April 15, 2026, the series offers a meaningful cultural outing in the heart of downtown Charleston. Whether you’re exploring Meeting Street for the first time or returning to experience Charleston’s arts scene again, The Sound of Charleston provides a layered perspective on the city’s musical identity.
