The season of festivals is upon us
Festivals in Charleston are about more than just music, drinks, and sunburn. In Charleston, it’s about coming together as a community to support small businesses, local artisans, and showing city folk and country folk a good time. With so many exciting summer activities underway, we decided to throw a list of must-see summer festivals in Charleston for you together so you don’t miss a thing.
June Events in Charleston
June 20th-23rd: Charleston Carifest
For those that are in the mood to experience Island fun without the price of a plane ticket, Charleston Carifest is for you! Celebrate Carribean culture and heritage during Charleston’s Caribbean American Heritage Month. Enjoy the colorful Caribbean Carnival, complete with exciting music and outrageous costumes, located from John Street to King Street. After the Parade, visit the Carnival Village where you’ll find delicious Caribbean food, drinks, and new friends.
June 28th: Reggae Nights 2
Enjoy some of the best reggae artists in Charleston at our annual Reggae Nights 2! Bring a blanket! You’ll be snuggled up among friends on the soft green of James Island County Park, partaking in the festival’s delicious food, drinks, and souvenirs provided by some of Charleston’s small businesses.

August 2nd: Bloody Mary Festival
Do you have an unquenchable thirst for Bloody Mary’s? We totally get it! Join us at Charleston’s annual Bloody Mary Festival on Friday August 2nd. Sip on everyone’s favorite cocktail while listening to live music and enjoying the company of fellow Bloody Mary connoisseurs.
August 14th: Summer Splash Bash
Summer Break is almost through, but Charleston knows how to go out in style! Invite your friends and family to Park West Recreation Complex’s end-of-summer bash! There will be water slides, an open pool, and concessions. This is a family-friendly activity sure to excited children of all ages. Don’t forget to pack your sunscreen!
August 30th to September 1st: The Lowcountry Jazz Festival
Searching for a chill late-summer activity? Charleston’s very own Jazz Festival takes place at the Galliard Center, presenting a lineup of talented Jazz musicians, both new and old, sure to keep your feet tapping. This festival isn’t just a fun activity, it’s also a fundraiser for Closing The Gap in Healthcare, Inc. Support a noble cause while you listen to some of Charleston’s most talented musicians, vocalists, and instrumentalists.
